Today a close relative of mine was hospitalized for reasons I choose not to discuss. There’s much to be said about the visit to the hospital. Firstly, the pale pink blinds do not bring much life to the room. Secondly, I still can’t figure why the hospital conceived it fitting to not have any seating area. Thirdly, you can never be prepared to go to the hospital.
While this post would be expected to be much about seizing the day and making the most of what we have. We’ll it’s not entirely what got me to writing this post in the first place. After we returned home my parent started discussing the superstition that go with weddings (yes, there is a wedding the family as well) and how we were to expect a series of unfortunate events (precisely ‘three’ according to them, I would love to hear what you have to add). And then my mom said something on the lines that most often it would be feuds and that she would rather have fought with someone than loose them to bad health.
How often have you fought with someone and hated them with the fire of a thousand suns? How often have you let life (define it your way here) get in the way of a relationship and let it pass because ‘life’ seemed more important at the time? I guess what I know for sure is that the opposite of ‘love’ is not ‘hate’, it’s ‘indifference’ and as long as you hate someone, you still care.
Look at your past relations that have gone wrong and ask yourself, are you really indifferent to that person? Could that person be breathing their last and you not care the slightest bit to make peace? If you find it in yourself to as much as think of someone you have fought with, you still care. Pick up the phone, compose an email, go over or do whatever it is you can to make amends. Sure, they might not reciprocate with the same enthusiasm, but, at least you tried.
